Coastal Flood Warning Issued for Cumberland County Through Tuesday Morning

At 4:37 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning effective from 6 p.m. through midnight Tuesday for Cumberland County.

According to the weather service, “up to 15 centimeters of flooding above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near the coastline and tidal waterways.”

“At this level, flooding will begin on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bay communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or complete road closures are possible,” the weather service said. “If travel is necessary, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take appropriate steps to protect flood-prone properties.”
