Ex-Michigan State receiver has confidence in Bills QB after strong NFL debut

The Buffalo Bills team that lost its top two receivers last season gave former Michigan State wideout Keon Coleman the opportunity to fill a key role.

If the team’s 2024 season opener is any indication, he’ll be ready — and he has the confidence of Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Coleman was the Bills’ leading receiver in catches and yards during their 34-28 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, making four catches for 51 yards.

Coleman’s most notable catch came in a manner familiar to those who watched him at Michigan State and Florida State. With nine minutes remaining and the Bills trailing by four, Allen threw a ball deep toward the sideline and Coleman outran his defender to get into position and make the catch that set up the go-ahead touchdown.

Allen said afterward that seeing his new target carry out such an action gives him confidence for the future.

“After I saw that, I was like, ‘I’m just going to trust that kid and let him do what he does,'” Allen said in the postgame press conference. “He made a great play there.”
