Malibu earthquake shakes Southern California – NBC Los Angeles

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7, with its epicenter located in the Malibu region, struck parts of Southern California on Thursday morning.

The initial magnitude of the quake of 5.1 was reduced to 4.7. An aftershock with a magnitude of 2.8 followed.

The earthquake struck just north of Malibu and tremors were reported at a depth of about seven miles (11 kilometers) in Malibu, Hermosa Beach, La Mirada, Anaheim, Santa Monica, the Hollywood Hills and parts of the San Fernando Valley.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage.
