Officials confirm multiple serious injuries

LONDON, Kentucky (WYMT) – UPDATE: Gilbert Acciardo of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WYMT that there were multiple serious injuries, but no fatalities as of 8:08 p.m.

The shooter has still not been caught and residents are urged to stay indoors.

ORIGINAL STORY: City of London Mayor Randall Weddle confirmed to WYMT that a shooting is underway in London.

Officer Scottie Pennington of the Kentucky State Police Post 11 confirmed that the suspect has still not been captured.

Shots were fired on I-75 near exit 49.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that multiple people have been shot.

Les Dixon, media liaison for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 11, said I-75, KY 909 and US 25 in Laurel County are currently closed.

I-75 is closed from exit 41 to exit 59.

Kentucky, we are aware of a shooting on I-75 in Laurel County. Police have closed the freeway in both directions at exit 49. Avoid the area. We will provide more details as they become available.
