In an interview with Mostly Sports With Mark Titus and Brandon Walker, Mariah May was asked about her problem with May.

“I don’t really have a problem with Toni Storm. I really like her. (Asked about smearing her blood on her face) That’s how much I like her. Would you do that to someone you didn’t like? Put their blood in your mouth if you didn’t like them?” said May.

Walker remarked that he had never done that before, and May replied that he was missing something. May was then asked about her victory and if she had thought about just coming out on top. She remarked that she had to win an entire tournament and beat a woman by a shoe.

“I didn’t really agree with wrestling on Dynamite and defending this. I don’t know who booked that. Last time I looked, I had to win a whole tournament and stab a woman in the head with a shoe,” said May.

Walker responded that May didn’t have to do that. However, she did emphasize the importance of the shoe and said the mind games helped her win.

“But it helped me win. Because if Toni and I were just wrestling, it could have gone either way, but I won the mind games. She couldn’t do to me what I do to her, so I had to do that to beat Toni Storm,” said May.

Toni Storm has expressed her interest in facing Mariah May at AEW Grand Slam Australia. Check out her comments here.

May will defend her title against Nyla Rose on the September 4 episode of AEW Dynamite. Fightful will have coverage of the show as it airs.
