Garissa elders thank Ruto for re-nominating Duale to Cabinet

Another elder, Osman Ibrahim, said the country has witnessed relative peace after Duale was appointed CS of Defence and that residents have voluntarily provided information on suspicious activities in the region which has helped security personnel quell possible terror attacks.

“Kenyans will have noticed that the attacks that used to occur on a daily basis in the region are no longer there. Duale has played a major role in this as he has been touring the region and holding meetings not only with the security apparatus but also with locals,” said Ibrahim, who is also the chairman of the Dadaab peace committee.

Ares Yerrow Ibrahim said that since the Northeast region borders two countries with political instability, it is important to have someone with a vast knowledge of the dynamics in the two countries to boost the country’s efforts to deal with external interference in both trade and peace.

The elders pledged to support the President in presenting his manifesto, rallying behind him.

Moments after the President’s announcement, Duale took to X to express his gratitude to President Ruto for nominating him for a similar position.

Duale said the nomination reflects the President’s and Kenya’s confidence in his ability to promote national security.

“This nomination reflects the deep confidence of the President and the Kenyan people in my ability to advance the agenda of our nation and more particularly the national security of our nation, and thereby contribute to its greatness,” Duale said.

He has said he is ready and willing to appear before the National Assembly committee for public review and scrutiny.

“I am ready and willing to present myself before the relevant National Assembly for public review and scrutiny,” Duale said.
