‘White Fragility’ Author Robin DiAngelo Is Tricked Into Paying Reparations to Matt Walsh’s Producer in Documentary ‘Am I Racist?’

“White Fragility” author Robin DiAngelo was scammed into reaching into her own pocket to pay reparations to a black producer in podcaster Matt Walsh’s upcoming documentary “Am I Racist?”

An undercover agent, Walsh, 38, with his hair in a bun, convinced DiAngelo to give money to his producer Ben to make up for past sins by paying the money himself first.

Walsh, who interviewed DiAngelo for a documentary project while feigning anti-racist sentiments and posing as an activist, called Ben over after he had answered most of the questions.

“This is Ben, a producer on the film. I thought it would be a powerful opportunity to speak directly to a person of color and confront our racism and also apologize for the white supremacist systems that oppress Ben,” Walsh began.

DiAngelo, 68, followed suit, saying, “On behalf of myself and my fellow white people, I apologize — it’s not you, it’s us. As long as I’m standing, I’m going to do my best to fight it.”

Walsh then announced that he would pay Ben damages if he accepted the offer, to which his producer replied, “I’m not going to turn it down.” Walsh then gave Ben some bills from his wallet.

“That doesn’t make up for 400 years of oppression, but it’s all I have to offer,” Walsh said.

Ben, fully aware of the ruse, reached into his wallet for the new money, explaining that he doesn’t “know if it’s ever enough,” but he praised Walsh for his “effort” and acknowledged the “small progress we’ve made today.”

DiAngelo looked introverted and bewildered as this happened.

“That was really weird,” a stunned and nearly speechless DiAngelo gasped before formulating a response after Walsh asked, “Do you want to pay?”

“I think reparations is a systemic dynamic and approach,” she added. “I mean, I think there might be people who would be offended by (that).”

Ben explained that he “wouldn’t turn down any money.” A serious-looking Walsh then stressed the need to “allow ourselves to be uncomfortable.” He emphasized, “This is something I can do right now,” and asked, “Why wouldn’t I?”

“I can definitely go get some money,” she admitted after struggling to resist Walsh and Ben’s logic. “I don’t care if that’s something you’re comfortable with.”

After getting Ben’s blessing, DiAngelo walked over to her wallet, pulled out about $30 and told him, “That’s all the money I have.”

“Thanks,” Ben replied, smiling.

When DiAngelo spoke to Walsh earlier in the documentary, she asked him to quickly identify who he was, noting that she “has to be careful.”

DiAngelo’s book, “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism,” hit bookstores in 2018 and helped establish her as a so-called expert in anti-bias training.

The New York Times bestseller contains some controversial assessments of racism, arguing that “white people raised in Western society are conditioned to a white supremacist worldview because it is the foundation of our society and its institutions.”

At another point in the book, she wrote, “People of color can also be prejudiced and discriminatory against white people, but they lack the social and institutional power that turns their prejudice and discrimination into racism; the impact of their prejudices on white people is temporary and contextual.”

Ironically, in 2021, DiAngelo received a $12,750 honorarium for a talk at the University of Wisconsin’s diversity forum, significantly more than the $7,500 paid to the Black female keynote speaker, Austin Channing Brown.

DiAngelo was recently accused of plagiarizing passages from minority scientists in her dissertation, according to a complaint obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The Post has reached out to DiAngelo for comment.

Walsh’s documentary will hit the big screen on September 13 and will be the first Daily Wire film to hit theaters.

The film is intended as a deconstruction of the anti-racism movement, similar to the way his 2022 documentary, “What Is a Woman?”, examined gender ideology from a critical perspective.

He went undercover and feigned deep soul-searching to investigate the movement. Walsh’s documentary also showed him crashing an expensive Race2Dinner, where he persuaded liberal white women at the table to raise their glasses and toast “racism.”
